ICSAW is dedicated to preserving and supporting ancestral wisdom, Indigenous cultural traditions, sacred ceremonies, arts and crafts, and the sacred fires that have been carried from generation to generation.
We seek to create respectful bridges between ancestral traditions and the contemporary world, supporting Elders, wisdom keepers, communities, and future generations in keeping these living traditions strong.
ICSAW envisions a better future for our children and for generations to come—a future in which ancestral wisdom, sacred places, ceremonies, traditional plant medicine, and Indigenous ways of life are honored, protected, and carried forward.
Through relationship, education, cultural exchange, and community, we seek to build bridges among peoples and traditions while fostering greater respect for the Earth, one another, and the wisdom entrusted to each generation.
Respect
We honor the integrity, sovereignty, traditions, and spiritual ways of the peoples and communities with whom we work.
Relationship
We believe meaningful cultural exchange begins with trust, reciprocity, listening, and genuine relationship.
Family & Community
We recognize families, Elders, youth, and communities as essential carriers of culture, identity, and ancestral knowledge.
Integrity
We approach our work ethically and respectfully, honoring privacy, appropriate boundaries, and the responsibilities that accompany sacred knowledge.
Preservation
We support the protection of sacred sites, cultural traditions, languages, arts, medicines, ceremonies, and ways of life.
ICSAW brings together Elders, wisdom keepers, cultural representatives, communities, organizations, and people from diverse backgrounds in support of cultural preservation, education, healing, and respectful exchange.
We provide a platform for teachers, wisdom keepers, like-minded organizations, and national and international centers to come together in relationship and alliance, while honoring each tradition's responsibility to preserve and carry forward its own spiritual and ancestral wisdom.
We are committed to supporting the transmission of cultural heritage, values, and ancestral knowledge from generation to generation, especially to our youth. In keeping these traditions alive, we honor the identity, dignity, and cultural inheritance of the peoples and communities from which they come.
ICSAW promotes, develops, and supports cultural gatherings, public talks, ceremonies, educational programs, and cultural exchanges that create safe, healthy, multicultural environments for learning, healing, celebration, and the renewal of Indigenous traditions and communal ways of life.
We also serve as a bridge between cultures, helping facilitate relationships and exchanges across communities and borders while respecting the protocols and traditions of the people involved.
Through this work, we seek to create opportunities for people to learn from one another and deepen their relationship with the Earth, community, ancestral wisdom, and all living things.
ICSAW continues to envision places where ancestral wisdom, cultural education, ceremony, healing, community, and relationship with the Earth can be nurtured and shared with integrity.
Our long-term vision includes establishing spaces and partnerships that support Elders, teachers, youth, families, cultural programs, gatherings, traditional knowledge, and the preservation of sacred ways for future generations.
As ICSAW grows, we welcome relationships with individuals, communities, organizations, and supporters who share this vision.
